The aroma is intense, exuberant and very floral and reminiscent of the scented Rockrose surrounded by fruits of the forest such as cassis; mint and some refined, elegant, well-integrated woody notes. Fresh on the palate, with a hint of cherry. Soft and velvety, presents smooth tannins, and is very well balanced against acidity, giving the wine complexity and longevity. The after-taste is long and well-flavored.

Portal's 10 Year Old Tawny is a blend of wines aged in old casks where they acquire the amber colour and turn the young rich fruit into elegance. The barrel aged Chardonnay follows the guiding philosophy, oak should be to wine as seasoning is to food. Enough to add interest and complexity but not so much that it overwhelms.

A precise seven-barrel blend yields intriguing citrus, green apple and pineapple with butter, honey, lavender and vanilla nuances. Intense amber tawny colour. Opulent and voluptuous nose of complex spicy, jammy and nutty aromas, hints of orange flower and a fine oakiness coming from the long period of aging in cask. The palate is full of very rich and concentrated flavour and has a long mellow finish.

Characteristically stylish and racy, with a nose of dense blackcurrant and woodland fruit overlaid with discreet herbal nuances and scents of violet and rose petals. As usual the classic Taylor elegance and understatement conceal the wine’s energy and vigour. On the palate it displays the lean, sinewy and tightly knit tannins which are so much a feature of the Taylor style and the vibrant and clearly delineated fruit flavours and which are the hallmark of the 2007 vintage.

Supported by a tight warp of thick sinewy tannins, the palate explodes with concentrated ripe black fruit flavour which surges into the long finish before being gripped in a tight tannic embrace.
